Vincent van Gogh (1889)

Painted in May 1889 during Van Gogh’s first month at the asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Irises captures the vivid vitality of nature. Influenced by Japanese woodblock prints, the expressive composition features bold outlines and sweeping, luminous color.
